Acceptance / Examination of Thesis

Qualification for Thesis Submission

  • Those who have passed the qualification exam (language and comprehensive exam)
  • Those who have completed the research ethics education designated by the graduate school
  • From those who are subject to taking supplementary courses, those who have completed all supplementary courses
  • Those who have previously completed or are able to complete the program coursework within the semester
  • Those who have the qualifications stipulated by other departmental regulations

Process

  • The subject of thesis examination submits the thesis and relevant documents for review to the relevant department → University (Department) registers the subject to ARSAM to be reviewed → Department advisor professor recommends the thesis reviewer → Dean appoints a thesis reviewer and submits the result to the graduate school → Department sends the thesis and documents for examination directly to each judge → Public presentation and thesis examination by judges → Department collects the evaluation results → Department submits the results to graduate school → Subject of thesis examination submits the thesis file and printed version to the library → Thesis Committee of the graduate school reviews the result → Degree conferment

  • Early April, Early October

Required Documents for Thesis Submission

  • Master’s Degree Thesis
    • 3 copies of master’s degree thesis
    • 1 copy of the Request for Evaluation of master’s degree thesis
    • 1 copy of the receipt of thesis examination fee
    • 1 copy of the Recommendation for Thesis Reviewers (written and submitted by the advisor professor)
    • 1 copy of the Thesis Research Ethics Compliance Certificate
    • 1 copy of the Research Ethics Education Completion Certificate
      (online educational session of Research Ethics for Graduate School Students from the Korea Institute of Human Resources Development in Science and Technology)
  • Doctoral Dissertation
    • 5 copies of doctoral degree dissertation
    • 1 copy of the Request for Evaluation of doctoral dissertation
    • 1 copy of the receipt of dissertation examination fee
    • 1 copy of the Recommendation for Thesis Reviewers (written and submitted by the advisor professor)
    • 1 copy of the Thesis Research Ethics Compliance Certificate
    • 1 copy of the Certificate of Research Ethics Education
      (online educational session of Research Ethics for Graduate School Students from the Korea Institute of Human Resources Development in Science and Technology)

Documents to be Submitted at the End of the Thesis / Dissertation Examination

  • For master’s degree thesis
    • 1 copy of the Judge's Approval Letter (3 copies in total)
    • 1 copy of the master's thesis examination results (3 copies in total)
    • 1 copy of the Turnitin Originality Report and digital receipt
  • For doctoral dissertation
    • 1 copy of the Judge's Approval Letter (5 copies in total)
    • 1 copy of the doctoral dissertation examination results (5 copies in total)
    • 1 copy of the dissertation examination schedule
    • 3 copies of the dissertation examination interim report
    • 1 copy of the thesis examination summary
    • 1 copy of the Turnitin Originality Report and digital receipt

File Submission Method Using Thesis Management System

  • How to Submit Thesis File
    • Submission period : July 9, 2020 (Thursday) - July 17 (Friday) (as planned)
    • Submission method: CNU Library website (http://lib.jnu.ac.kr) → Main page → Register personal thesis file in [Search / Submit Degree Thesis]
  • Thesis file registration procedure using [Thesis Management System: dCollection]
    • Click the [Search / Submit Thesis] icon on the main page of the library homepage (dCollection system)
    • After logging in, click the data submission menu at the top of the thesis submission → Refer to the notification and online guide for data submission and then submit.
    • After checking and editing the submitter information, take steps such as entering meta information.
    • Check the submission results and certification in the submission history menu 24 hours after the thesis submission is completed.
      ※ Since uploaded files are submitted through a verification process, you can check whether or not they are certified 24 hours after thesis submission.
      ※ ※ If the uploaded file is bigger than 50MB, it must be resized to be under 50MB by changing the figures inserted in the file
      (or convert the file into PDF format for submission).
      ※ The submitted thesis can be downloaded by the submitter at any time from the submission details of the dCollection site

Checklist for the Submission of Printed Copies of Thesis

  • Required Documents
    • Printed copy of thesis (master's thesis / doctoral dissertation): 3 copies with soft binding (5 soft copies for the Department of Law) - bind the Permission for Use of the Work after the Approval Letter
      ※ Soft binding copies (black ink on gray Leathack paper)
      ※ After registering the thesis in the library's thesis management system, print out the Permission for Use of the Work, and submit it after binding it after the Approval Letter.
    • One copy of Confirmation of Thesis Submission and one copy of Permission for Use of the Work (printed after registering the file on the library website)
  • Notes
    • The final thesis version should indicate “Master's / Doctoral Degree Thesis / Dissertation” on the cover and inner cover.

Cancellation of Degree

  • If a person who has received a master's or doctoral degree turns out to have obtained the degree in a unfair manner, or if a person who has received an honorary doctorate has impaired his or her honor, the president may cancel the conferment of the degree after deliberation by the graduate school committee.
